Fred and Nancy Russell of Salem celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary the weekend of Sept. 26 with an overnight stay at Natural Bridge Hotel, family dinner on Saturday and a fellowship reception with their church family on Sunday.
They are also planning a trip to the Holy Land early next year.
The couple were married at Waverly Place Baptist Church in Roanoke on Sept. 24, 1959, by Pastor Stone.
They have two children, Elizabeth Russell of Eden, N.C., and Catherine Montgomery and husband David of Salem. The Russells also have three grandchildren, Samantha, Jacob and Joshua.
Fred was employed by General Electric for 33 years. Nancy is currently employed by General Electric.
