Livestock shelter, Pender County

Sheltering for livestock for persons affected by Pender County wildfire will be held at the Sampson County Livestock Arena located at 51 Agriculture Place Clinton, NC 28328.

The shelter will be accepting cattle, goats, sheep, horses, poultry, and pigs will not be accepted. The shelter will be open today, June 23, 2011 until 7pm and will be reopened as needed. Any persons interested in using the arena as a shelter needs to contact Emily Herring at 910-604-3378 ahead of time to inform of the arrival of animals.

Livestock owners need to bring any and all health records for their animals, feed and/or hay for 2-3 days, feed bowls, and any special items that may be needed for those animals. The Sampson County Livestock Arena is not a shelter designated for people affected by the fire.

Animals will be dropped off and left to the care of the Sampson County Animal Response Team. Any questions please contact Emily Herring, Pender County Livestock Agent at 910-604-3378.
